HolidayLib
by agmas
HolidayLib is a Fabric rendering library that other mods use to add custom player skin tints and render layers.
What it does
HolidayLib provides render layer and tint support that other developers can call from their own mods, so that a custom player appearance applied by one mod keeps working alongside others. The library is built for mods that render custom player skins and for shader-compatible rendering, and it lists Veil as an optional companion. Fabric API is required.
Tints and render layers set through the library are shown in the player list and within player range. Each tint or layer is assigned a priority, so when two mods try to change the same player's skin tint, the one with the higher priority takes effect. The library runs on the client only, so a server does not need it.
Files target only 1.21.1, and the latest Fabric build is 1.1.2, published on 2026-03-30 after a first release on 2026-01-22. HolidayLib is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and source code is available publicly.
Key features
Translucent emissive layers
Pre-made translucent emissive render layers are included, with support for depth masks.
Fallback layers and colors
Fallback render layers and colors are available when shaders are enabled, so a player's skin still renders.
Skin tint priority system
Customizing the player's skin tint render layer uses a priority system, so mods overriding each other resolve in a defined order.
Player list display
Player tints and render layers appear in the player list and are visible within player range.

Use cases
Custom player renderers
Mods that render custom player skins can use the library to apply tints and layers without breaking compatibility with other mods.
Shader-based rendering
Rendering with shaders is supported, including the fallback layers and colors the library provides.
Who it’s for: Mod developers who add custom player rendering, and modpack builders combining several player appearance mods on Fabric for 1.21.1. Players installing only a mod that depends on HolidayLib never need to configure it.
