Hide Unneeded Players
by EndNalas
Crowded lobbies and busy events can fill the screen with players, and Hide Unneeded Players lets a client hide the distant ones while keeping nearby players visible.
What it does
Hide Unneeded Players is a Fabric client mod that reduces visual clutter by hiding players beyond a chosen distance. Players can toggle the hiding with the hideplayers command, set the visible range with hideplayers range, and manage a whitelist and blacklist of entries that are always shown or always hidden. Hiding also reduces client-side collisions with the players that are hidden.
The mod suits busy lobbies, crowded servers and events where fewer unnecessary players are wanted on screen, and it is described by its author as a lightweight addition. Only the client needs it: servers and other players run without it. Files are published for Fabric alone, across five game versions 1.21.11 – 26.2, under the MIT License; the code is not open source. The latest file, 1.0.0 for 26.2, was released on 2026-08-19.
Key features
Distance-based hiding
Players farther away than the set range are hidden, while nearby players stay visible on screen.
Toggle command
The hideplayers toggle command switches player hiding on and off without restarting the game.
Visible range setting
The hideplayers range command sets how far away a player can be and still be shown.
Whitelist and blacklist
Specific players can be kept visible or hidden regardless of distance, through managed entries.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.

Use cases
Busy lobbies
In a crowded hub, hiding distant players reduces the number of figures on screen at once.
Crowded events
During a large gathering, a player can keep the nearby group visible and hide everyone else.
Who it’s for: Players who spend time in crowded lobbies, events or servers and want fewer unnecessary players on screen. Because the mod runs on the client, server owners do not need to install it.
