HexLands
HexLands generates the overworld as a field of hexagonal regions, each hex holding a single biome and bordered by walls, in the style of the Settlers of Catan board.
What it does
HexLands replaces the usual terrain layout with hexagonal regions. Each hex contains one biome, and neighboring hexes of different types are separated by walls. The biome source is set through a data pack, and the generator reads a noise settings entry, so the layout is defined by data rather than by code. The author notes that other mods adding biomes or altering overworld generation are handled automatically.
Two parameters shape the result. Biome scale sets how many scale biomes are sampled to create the hexes, with higher values producing more random layouts, and hex size sets the size of each individual hex. The mod is a fresh rewrite of the earlier Hex Lands project by superfluke, rebuilt for newer Minecraft versions. Fabric API is required on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. Server owners install it, and players connect with no copy of their own.
Worlds using HexLands are defined through world presets. Players can add a customized preset, and the default HexLands presets are HexLands and HexLands Overworld Only, both of which use the hexlands:hexlands chunk generator. A world that uses HexLands in a specific dimension must change that dimension's generator field, and the generator object must follow the documented properties.
