HardModeMod
by Kaster_64
HardModeMod makes the game harder for players who choose to play on a server running it, and the harder state carries on after the Ender Dragon is defeated.
What it does
The mod targets players who want a stricter challenge. Its effects begin after the Ender Dragon is killed, and from then on the game stays significantly harder for the rest of the world. Several difficulty profiles appear in the author notes, with changes to player health, attack damage, armor and movement speed, and in one profile enemies follow from farther away.
Because the change is applied on the server side, only the server needs HardModeMod. Players join without installing anything. The mod is built for Fabric, with a single release for 26.2 and a 0.1.0 file published on 2026-08-22 on the alpha channel.
The source code and issue tracker are public, and the project is released under the MIT License, so it is open source. Game versions 1.21.11 and 26.2 have files, and the mod was first published on 2026-08-22.
Key features
Permanent harder mode
After the Ender Dragon is defeated, the game becomes significantly harder and stays that way.
Boosted player stats
Profiles raise player health, with some adding attack damage, armor or faster movement.
Longer enemy follow range
One profile extends how far mobs track a player, which makes encounters harder to escape.
Several difficulty profiles
The author notes list multiple stat sets, from a modest health boost to a heavy combat package.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
Use cases
Hardcore survival runs
Players who want a tougher second phase of a world can use the mod after the dragon fight.
Server challenge modes
Server owners can run a stricter progression for players who join a dedicated challenge world.
Who it’s for: The mod suits players who want a harder game after the Ender Dragon and server owners who run challenge worlds. Because it is server-side only, a server running it sets the difficulty for everyone who joins.
