What it does

Guard Villagers is a port of the original Guard Villagers mod, first made for Forge 1.18 by almightytallestred, and moved to Fabric and Quilt by brgrgrl. The author states that the port takes no credit for the design and that the description follows the page of mrsterner, who published the Fabric and Quilt versions earlier. Only one build exists: 2.1.2-1.21.1 for 1.21.1, published on 2025-09-07, which is also the first and last published file.

Guard Villagers needs Fabric API. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. The license is the MIT License, and the mod is not open source. The project is meant for mobs and adventure play on the 1.21.1 version only, and it is not published for any other game version.

Key features

  1. Guard villagers

Villagers can be given guards that fight alongside them, with new villager-related AI changes around how they act.

  2. Clerics and smiths

Clerics heal low-health guards and villagers, plus players holding the Hero of the Village effect, while smiths restore worn iron golems.

  3. Illager and raid behavior

Raids and illagers can kill animals, and illagers scare polar bears, adding more threats around villages.

  4. Witch attacks

Witches attack villagers, so village defense has another source of danger to plan for.
