Grow the Crops

by Maikokain

Grow the Crops is a Forge utility for Minecraft 1.12.2 that lets players make crops grow faster and brings bonemeal-style growth to plants that lack it.

ForgeClient and serverGNU General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.12.2

What it does

Grow the Crops speeds up crop growth through an action taken by the player, in the same spirit as the SquatGrow mod for 1.12 and the Twerk Sim 2k16 concept it draws on. Crops that do not normally respond to bonemeal can be made to grow with it, which gives farms a way to speed up without waiting on the default timers.

The mod includes integrations with several other mods. Industrial Craft 2, AgriCraft and Mystical Agriculture are optional dependencies; when one of them is present, the mod can work with its plants and machinery. Players who do not use these mods can still run Grow the Crops alone.

Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. Files are published for Forge only, for 1.12.2, and the latest is 1.0.4, dated 2025-01-08. The source code is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and the issue tracker is public.

Key features

  1. Faster crop growth

Crops grow faster when the player uses the mod's growth action, shortening the wait for a harvest.

  2. Bonemealable crops

Plants that cannot normally take bonemeal can be made to grow with it, widening what bonemeal is useful for.

  3. Industrial Craft 2 support

When Industrial Craft 2 is installed, the mod integrates with its machines and plants.
