GrowHealth

by APPLEPIE6969

GrowHealth scales a player's maximum health with experience level, starting from a configurable number of hearts, on Fabric and on Paper or Spigot servers.

FabricAll rights reserved1.21 – 26.1.2

What it does

Each player begins with a set number of hearts, one by default, and gains extra hearts as the experience level rises. The default setting adds one heart every five levels. The starting value can be set in half-heart steps, so a player may begin with 0.5 hearts, and a hard limit caps how many hearts a player can ever obtain.

Progression can be tuned for hardcore starts, slow growth or effectively unlimited scaling. Server owners who run Paper, Spigot, Bukkit or Purpur install the plugin JAR in the plugins directory and restart the server. On Fabric the mod needs Fabric API, and the same settings apply in modded environments.

Files are published for Fabric, with 15 release versions 1.21 – 26.1.2 and snapshot builds. The latest Fabric file is 1.0.0 for 26.1.2, released 2026-03-30 on the beta channel. The code is under All rights reserved, so the project is not open source.

Key features

  1. Experience-based heart gain

Maximum health increases automatically as the player's experience level climbs, with the interval set in the config.

  2. Configurable starting hearts

The number of hearts a new player begins with can be set, down to half-heart precision.

  3. Hard heart limit

A cap sets the highest number of hearts a player can reach, so scaling does not run without end.

  4. Hardcore starts

A start with one heart, or a fraction of one, makes early survival harder until the player levels up.

Questions

Which game versions does GrowHealth cover?

Its Fabric files cover 15 release versions 1.21 – 26.1.2, with snapshot builds published as well.

Can a player start with less than one heart?
