Fungi

by KaboomRoads

Fungi lets mycelium spread across blocks in a world, with spores that launch, grow roots and burst when a block is broken.

FabricForgeClient and serverMIT License1.19.4 – 1.20.1

What it does

Fungal growth is the core of the mod. Mycelium spreads over surfaces, and small spores later turn into Mycelium Roots blocks. Spores can be launched for a few seconds of flight, and a spore can explode instead of dropping as an item when a player tries to break it.

Two game rules control how fast the growth proceeds and how much lag it can cause, so a server owner can tune the spread for a slower or faster world. Fabric API is required on Fabric, and the same content is published for Forge.

Builds exist for 1.19.4, 1.20 and 1.20.1, with the 0.3 alpha as the latest file on both loaders. The mod runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it, and the code is released under the MIT License without being open source.

Key features

  1. Spreading mycelium

Mycelium spreads over surrounding surfaces block by block, changing the ground across an area over time.

  2. Launchable spores

Fungal Spores can be launched and stay in flight for a few seconds before they land.

  3. Mycelium Roots

Small spores grow into Mycelium Roots blocks after a short delay, extending the growth into new spots.

  4. Explosive spores

Spores explode when a player attempts to break them, instead of breaking quietly.

  5. Growth game rules

Two game rules set the growth speed and the lag it can produce, so the rate can be adjusted per world.
