ForgeAutoShutdown 1.12.2

by Targren

ForgeAutoShutdown, a Forge utility for 1.12.2 servers, stops the server on a schedule or when it stalls, and lets players vote for a manual shutdown.

ForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.12.2

What it does

Shutdown rules are set in the config. The server can stop after a chosen amount of uptime, at a fixed time of day, or on several days of a week. The Uptime option switches the timer to a fixed number of hours and minutes after start. A restart can repeat multiple times a day or over a few days, and a shutdown can be postponed until the server is empty, counting only real players and not fake players.

Watchdog checks can trigger a stop when the server is hanging, stalled or laggy: when ticks stop, or when TPS stays below a set value for a set length of time. Players can also start a vote for a manual shutdown. Every player, including the initiator, votes yes or no, and the shutdown runs only if the vote passes; a vote that fails can be retried after a configured wait. A wrapper script that restarts the server afterwards is optional, and it is a recommended addition.

The mod must be installed on both the client and the server, and it runs under Forge 14.23.5.2859. It doesn't add commands and does not work in single-player worlds. Its messages are localized, and features can be turned off in the config. The code is open source under the MIT License, and the source code and issue tracker are public.

Key features

  1. Scheduled shutdowns

The server can stop after a set uptime or at a set time of day, with restarts repeated across days.

  2. Hang and lag detection

Shutdown triggers when ticks stall or TPS stays below a threshold for a configured length of time.

  3. Player shutdown vote

Players vote yes or no on a manual shutdown, and the vote passes only if it reaches the threshold.

  4. Delayed shutdown

A shutdown can wait until the server is empty, and players joining during a countdown cancel the warnings.
