Flower Picking

by Jenki

Flower Picking lets players harvest flowers in a way that leaves the plant able to grow back, without the flower being destroyed.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.19.2 – 1.20.1

What it does

Right-clicking a flower with bare hands or with shears picks it. Picking a flower replenishes its head, and the plant regrows and can be harvested again. Bone meal applied to a flower can give another flower, and collecting flowers with shears makes them grow faster. The result is a steady supply of flowers that a player can keep collecting from the same plant.

The mod is a world generation and decoration addition that also fits adventure and game mechanics play. Its author credits BennyBoy1695 for the idea. The project is no longer actively developed, but its source code is available on GitHub, so the code can be explored, modified and continued by others. Flower Picking is for Forge and NeoForge only, and runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files cover 1.19.2, 1.19.4 and 1.20.1, with 1.3 for 1.20.1 as the latest Forge build and 1.1 for 1.20.1 as the latest NeoForge build. It is released under All rights reserved, so the code is not open source.

Key features

  1. Harvesting without losing the flower

Picking a flower with bare hands or shears keeps the plant intact instead of destroying it.

  2. Regrowing flower heads

A picked flower replenishes its head over time, so the same plant can be harvested again.

  3. Bone meal for extra flowers

Applying bone meal to a flower can produce another flower beside it.

  4. Faster growth from shears

Collecting flowers with shears makes the plant grow faster than picking it by hand.

If you right-click (with bare hands or with shears) on a flower, you will not destroy the flower; it will regrow, and you will collect its head.
