Fire and Flames

by Quarris

Fire and Flames is a NeoForge technology mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 that adds a medieval blacksmithing system, built around a multiblock Crucible for smelting and alloying.

NeoForgeClient and serverGNU General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.21.1

What it does

Players process raw ores in a multiblock smelting structure that turns them into molten metals, which can then be used to create alloys. The Crucible can be powered by solid fuels or by fluid heat sources, and it offers several power options. Ore processing is meant to return more yield than standard furnace smelting.

Molten metal can be poured into Casting Tables and Casting Basins to form ingots, blocks and tool components. Those components are then used to forge custom tools and armour. The author built the system from the ground up, inspired by Tinkers Construct, and plans further unique features for later updates.

Installation needs only NeoForge for 1.21.1. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. Its code is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, and its recipes are defined with data packs and configs, which server owners can edit to fit a modpack.

Key features

  1. Multiblock Crucible

A multiblock smelting structure turns raw ores into molten metals and creates alloys from them.

  2. Custom tools and armour

Tool components cast from molten metal are assembled into custom tools and armour at the forge.

  3. Casting Tables and Basins

Molten metal is poured into casting blocks to produce ingots, blocks and tool components.

  4. Enhanced ore processing

Ores processed in the Crucible give a higher yield than standard furnace smelting.

Magma Crucible is a NeoForge mod for 1.21.1 that is closed source under the MIT License and runs on client and server, so it is not open source. The Enderian Crucible is also NeoForge and client and server, but targets 1.21.4 and is not open source. Tinkers Construct (Unofficial port) is NeoForge for 1.21.1, client and server, and open source under the MIT License, so it can be compared directly on licensing.
