FinzWild:Friends
Within FinzWild:Friends, small snakes can be tamed with raw chicken and then behave much like a tamed wolf, and the mod adds a broader set of creatures to the world.
What it does
The mod adds a Little Snake-like creature that spawns across many biomes, including forests, deserts, jungles, rivers, oceans, mountains, grasslands and wilderness. Snakes come in several types, and the snakes in water live there. Tamed snakes follow the same basic behavior as a tamed wolf. The Nillo character is mentioned as part of an upcoming adventure map, FinzKiil.
The mod also adds a large Nillo variant, which cannot have Nillo Armor equipped for higher stats while ridden. Snake-related loot is found in trail ruins, desert pyramids, ocean ruins, pillager outposts and mineshafts. Amulets are crafted from string. The mod requires Bagus Lib on Forge and NeoForge. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. The code is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and the mod is published for Forge and NeoForge across 8 release versions, 1.20.1 – 1.21.6.

How it compares
Creature Feature is a NeoForge-only mod for 1.21.1, open source under the MIT License, and it runs on client and server. Better Fire resistance is client-side only, open source under the MIT License and covers 1.20.1 – 1.21.6 on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, so it is a separate choice for fire protection rather than a mob addition. Desert Villager Trader is not open source, released as All rights reserved, and works on client and server for 1.20.1 – 26.1.2 on Forge and NeoForge.
