FastChest
by Domi
With many chests in one room, the frame rate drops, and FastChest addresses that by rendering chests from static block models.
What it does
Minecraft draws each chest individually, so the cost grows with every chest placed. FastChest swaps that drawing for static block models, which the author describes as a fix for storage rooms packed with chests. The gain depends on the chest count: large rooms can roughly double the frame rate, while other causes of slowdown are not touched.
The mod is client-side only, so only the client needs it and servers run without it. It requires Fabric API and is published for Fabric alone, across 38 release versions, 1.15 – 1.21.11, under the MIT License, and the code is open source. Fabric builds for 1.21.11 currently use the 1.6+1.21.9 file, dated 2025-12-10.
Key features
Static chest models
Chests are drawn from static block models instead of being rendered one by one in the world.
Frame rate in storage rooms
The drawing change is aimed at rooms holding many chests, where rendering costs are highest.
Vanilla chests only
Only the vanilla chest, trapped chest and ender chest are handled, and chests added by other mods may break.
Resource pack handling
Packs that overwrite chest blockstate files conflict with the mod until those files are removed from the pack.

Use cases
Large storage rooms
A player with dozens of chests in one base can use the mod to keep the frame rate steadier while browsing storage.
Who it’s for: Players who run chest-heavy bases on Fabric, and who use vanilla chests rather than chests from other mods.

What the author says
If your storage room contains a lot of chests, you have probably noticed how bad Minecraft is at rendering them. The more chests are placed, the lower your FPS go. FastChest helps by removing their dynamic models (aka BlockEntityRenderer) and making them render as static chunk geometry, like most normal blocks. (This…
