Fancy Ferrets, a Forge mobs mod, adds tamable ferrets that spawn in forests and can be trained to hunt for their owner.

What it does

Forest biomes are where ferrets appear, and a player can win one over by offering eggs, chicken, rabbit or meat. Their coats come in several colors and patterns, and their eye colors vary too, with certain colors appearing at different rates. Green and blue tones depend on how much light reaches the ferret's coat. Once tamed, a ferret can be told to sit or to wander, and a tamed ferret can be opened in a small inventory by shift-right-clicking it.

Hunting is the main role of the tamed ferret. After it has hunted prey, it can take the spoils into its inventory, which the owner can choose to collect. A ferret left to hunt will keep chickens and rabbits away from the owner's area without further orders. The mod is decorative in spirit, with the ferrets serving as a small companion and a source of fun around the base.

Installation of Fancy Ferrets depends on DragN's Livestock Overhaul, version 1.20.1-2.7 or newer. It runs on the client and the server, so the server and every player need the mod. Files are published for Forge only, for Minecraft 1.20.1, and the code is not open source; the mod is released under All rights reserved.
