Face ID Door

by Calfmolten

Face ID Door is a Fabric and NeoForge mod that adds a high-tech iron door opened by a biometric scanner that only the owner can pass.

FabricNeoForgeClient and serverMIT License1.21 – 1.21.11

What it does

Installed on a server or a single-player world, the mod adds an iron door that scans the player looking at it and opens only for its owner. A door can be used as a secure entry to a base, and it can also be tied to redstone so that a signal, rather than a player's face, controls it. Detection uses ray-casting from the player's view, so the scanner responds only when the player is looking directly at it.

Once the owner is detected, the door opens automatically. It stays open while the owner keeps looking at it and closes on its own after the owner walks away. Range, close delay and on-screen messages can be adjusted in-game through Mod Menu, with defaults of 5 blocks and 1 second. Interface text is translated into dozens of languages, with support for Chinese, Russian and several European languages.

Installation covers the server and each player's game. Builds are published for both loaders, with 0.1-Alpha as the latest file on each.

Key features

  1. Biometric door scanner

The iron door checks whether the player looking at it is its owner and opens only for that player.

  2. Automatic opening and closing

The door opens when the owner approaches and closes after they walk away, with a delay that stays open while looked at.

  3. Ray-cast detection

The scanner uses ray-casting from the player's view, so it reacts only to a direct line of sight.

  4. Adjustable settings

Detection range, close delay and HUD messages can be changed in-game through Mod Menu.

  5. Redstone control

The door can be operated with redstone signals, so it works with keys, circuits and other contraptions.
