Fabric Mob Heights
by digitalbeth
Fabric Mob Heights changes the height of Minecraft mobs, giving them subtle, realistic size differences while keeping vanilla gameplay in balance.
What it does
Each mob receives a size variation that follows natural animal proportions, so one cow or zombie may stand a little taller or shorter than another. Sizes are stored in the mob's NBT data, so a mob keeps its height after the world is saved and reloaded. Scaling affects damage and movement speed as well, which keeps the changes tied to the mob's stature rather than to a separate balance layer.
The ranges that apply to mobs can be adjusted through Mod Menu, and mobs can be excluded from scaling with a blacklist. Players are left out of the scaling, and modded biomes inherit the scaling of the vanilla biome they match. The mod works alongside modded mobs and resource packs, and it is built on Cloth Config API, Fabric API, Mod Menu and Pehkui, which all must be installed for it to run.
Fabric Mob Heights is a Fabric mod only, published for 1.20 – 1.20.4 with 5 release versions and 1.0.5 for 1.20.4 as the latest file. The code is open source under the MIT License, and source code and an issue tracker are public.
Key features
Natural size variation
Mobs spawn with heights that differ slightly from the vanilla default, modeled on natural animal proportions.
Persistent scaling
Each mob's size is saved in NBT data, so it keeps its height across restarts and chunk reloads.
Balanced side effects
Damage and movement speed adjust with the size change, so bigger mobs hit harder and move differently.
Blacklist and player exclusion
Specific mobs can be blacklisted, and players are never resized, which keeps the scaling limited to mobs.
Configurable ranges
Scaling ranges are set in a config screen opened from Mod Menu, and modded biomes follow their vanilla counterparts.
