Eternal FPS
Eternal FPS, a Minecraft Java performance control module, lets players switch between saved performance profiles from a dedicated menu opened with Shift + F10.
What it does
The menu gathers the settings that most affect frame rate in one place: a frame rate limit, render distance and simulation distance. A customizable ETERNAL profile can hold a set of values, and other profiles can be created so a player can move between a demanding world and a lighter one without editing options by hand. Distance controls are grouped with the rest, so the menu reads as a single panel rather than several screens.
Eternal FPS serves as the main performance control module within the Project Eternal collection, with Fabric and Forge files covering 7 release versions, 1.21.10 – 26.3. Files for 26.3 are available on both loaders, with the Fabric build last updated 2026-10-07 and the Forge build 2026-10-10. The mod runs on the client only, so players install it and servers need nothing. It is released under the MIT License and is not open source. Eternal Render is an optional dependency that adds to the setup.
Key features
Dedicated performance menu
A separate menu opens with Shift + F10 and holds the performance settings, so they do not have to be searched for in the options screens.
Performance profiles
Several profiles can be saved and switched quickly, including the customizable ETERNAL profile, to change the balance between visuals and speed.
Frame rate limit control
The maximum frame rate can be set from the menu, which helps keep the game within a chosen target.
Render and simulation distance
Render distance and simulation distance can each be adjusted, giving direct control over how much of the world is loaded and updated.

How it compares
Not Enough FPS is a Fabric-only, client-side mod for 1.21.11 – 26.3 released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and it is open source. Better Render Distance is also Fabric-only and client-side, covers 1.21 – 26.3, and is under All rights reserved, so it is not open source. Eternal FPS is the one here that runs on both Fabric and Forge, with a menu built around profiles rather than single render settings.
