Eliminate Players

by Gabe_Real

Eliminate Players is a Fabric and Quilt mod that hides a player's chat name and replaces it with eerie visuals, a prank aimed at friends.

FabricQuiltClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.20 – 1.20.4

What it does

Eliminate Players lets a player be removed from view, so the affected player's name disappears from chat and is swapped for ghostly visuals. The mod was originally designed for a single server with one player, and some of its features are meant to be changed through its configuration file, eliminateplayers.json, which sits in the config folder of the Minecraft directory or the server files.

The configuration is synced between server and client, so a server that runs the mod with a different config can still be joined by clients. To change the banned UUIDs, the author suggests looking up UUIDs on public websites and adding more entries to the list, using the examples in the file. The file lives under the app data folder for the launcher, or the config folder of a server.

Installation needs Fabric Loader and Fabric API on Fabric, or Quilt Loader and the Quilted Fabric API on Quilt. Quilt Kotlin Libraries (QKL) is also required on both loaders. Eliminate Players runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files are published for 1.20 – 1.20.4 and are released under the MIT License, which means the source code is open source.

Key features

  1. Hidden player names

The mod hides a targeted player's name in chat and replaces it with eerie visuals.

  2. Configurable banned UUIDs

The list of banned UUIDs is kept in eliminateplayers.json, and more entries can be added from the examples in the file.

  3. Synced configuration

Server and client settings are kept in step, so a modded server does not need a matching local setup on each player's side.

  4. Single-server design

The author designed the mod for use on one server with one player, and parts of it work as intended only in that setup.

Use cases

Pranking friends

The author describes the mod as a simple but complicated tool for taunting friends on a shared server.

Who it’s for: Server owners and friend groups who want a prank that changes how names appear in chat. The author notes that some features depend on the single-server setup.

Questions

Does Eliminate Players need Quilt Kotlin Libraries?
