What it does

Effective Farmer is a singleplayer farming quality-of-life mod. It widens planting and harvesting from one block to a 3x3x3 cube around the selected block, for wheat, beetroot, carrots and potatoes. The goal is to make crop farming faster and less repetitive. Because the mod is aimed at singleplayer play, it is a small utility rather than a large content addition.

Planting uses ordinary crop items: each crop planted still consumes one matching item from the inventory, and seeds for wheat and beetroot work the same way as they do in vanilla. Harvesting is handled by a new Scythe tool, which harvests grown supported crops in the 3x3x3 area around the block clicked and loses durability for each crop it harvests. Holding Shift disables the 3x3x3 effect, so normal single-block vanilla behavior is kept when needed.

Effective Farmer is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across five release versions, 1.20.1, 1.21.1, 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3, with 1.3.0 for 26.3 as the latest file. The server and every player need the mod installed. It is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.

Key features

  1. 3x3x3 planting

Placing a supported crop fills the 3x3x3 cube around the selected block on farmland, using the same crop item.

  2. 3x3x3 harvesting with a Scythe

The new Scythe harvests grown supported crops in the 3x3x3 area around the clicked block in one action.

  3. Shift to use vanilla

Holding Shift turns off the 3x3x3 effect, so planting and harvesting behave as normal single blocks.

  4. Supported crops

Wheat, beetroot, carrots and potatoes are covered, and planting consumes one matching item per crop from the inventory.

AutoHarvest is client-side only and open source under the MIT License, with files for 1.20.4 – 26.3 on Fabric and NeoForge, so the server does not need it. Simply Harvesting is server-side only, open source under the Apache License 2.0, and published for Forge and NeoForge 1.19.2 – 26.3, so players join without installing it. Effective Farmer needs both sides and is not open source.
