Echoes of the World

by MickDev

Echoes of the World is a NeoForge world generation mod in which the world reacts to what players do, bringing volcanoes, tornadoes and bosses that build up over time.

What it does

Echoes of the World treats the world as something that remembers player actions. Mining, fighting, slaughtering animals and trading with villagers are recorded per world and per player, and the consequences surface later as dynamic events: a volcano that erupts, a tornado that cuts across the land, or a boss that answers the deeds that were marked. On multiplayer servers the memory is kept per player, so the narrative stays tied to each player's own history.

The mod changes both natural events and encounters. Memory Convergence brings a stormy ritual with falling shards, Living Volcano runs as a slow, multi-phase eruption with block ejection, and Tri-State Tornado is an EF5 wedge tornado that follows a near-straight track. Bosses are not random pop-ups: the Echo Overlord Warden is an apex boss that appears along a corruption path, and the world reads corruption and online players to open tiers of threat. The mod is open source under the MIT License and is published for NeoForge 1.21.1, with files for 1.21.1 only and both client and server needed.

Key features

  1. Memory of player actions

Actions such as mining, fighting, animal slaughter and villager trades are stored per world and per player.

  2. Living Volcano eruptions

Volcanoes erupt in several phases, eject realistic blocks and cause earthquakes that are felt only nearby.

  3. Tri-State Tornado

A deadly EF5 wedge tornado travels across the land, pulling in mobs and items and destroying fragile blocks along its path.

  4. Echo Overlord Warden

An apex boss appears along a corruption path and can be configured, with a default setting for corrupted players.

  5. Global and procedural sites

Dungeons, monoliths, forsaken villages, shrines and smoking craters are generated as the world develops, so no two are the same.

Questions

Does Echoes of the World need to be installed on both sides?

Yes. Servers that run it need every player to install it too.

Which versions does Echoes of the World support?

Files are published for Minecraft 1.21.1 only, on the NeoForge loader. The latest file is 1.0.3 for 1.21.1, released on 2026-05-25.

Are the bosses and events set by the world or by the author?

Bosses and events are triggered by the recorded actions of players and by the state of the world, and the Echo Overlord Warden defaults to corrupted players.
