Easy Pets

by TecnaGamer

Easy Pets, a server-side Fabric mod, keeps tamed pets easier to manage by loading their chunks, recovering lost pets and speeding up their movement.

FabricServer-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.6 – 1.21.8

What it does

Smart chunk loading keeps the chunks a pet is following active, so pets do not end up stuck in unloaded areas. Only the chunks that pets are following are loaded, rather than a wide area around each one. Pet tracking recovery lets a player locate and recover a pet with a few simple commands, which addresses the case where a pet is left behind. When a pet falls behind, it sprints to close the gap and then keeps pace with its owner.

Pets also heal slowly over time, in the same way horses do, through natural regeneration. A configurable set of options lets server owners tweak these behaviours. The mod works with IndyPets Integration and with other pet mods. It requires Fabric API, and it is released under the MIT License, so the code is open source. Files are published only for Fabric, for 1.21.6, 1.21.7 and 1.21.8, with 1.0.0 for 1.21.8 as the latest file.

Key features

  1. Smart chunk loading

The mod loads just the chunks where pets are following their owner, so they never end up stranded in unloaded terrain.

  2. Pet tracking and recovery

Commands let a player locate and recover pets without searching the map by hand.

  3. Dynamic movement

Pets run faster to catch up with the player and match its speed without extra steps.

  4. Natural regeneration

Pets slowly heal over time, similar to horses in vanilla Minecraft.

  5. Configurable settings

Options for chunk loading, movement and regeneration can be adjusted to suit a server.
