Dynamic Flight Control
by Mod_MC
Dynamic Flight Control changes creative-style flight so that the direction the player looks sets the direction of movement, with no need to hold Space or Shift.
What it does
Flight in the mod is steered by the crosshair: looking up makes the player ascend and looking down makes them descend, while W, A, S and D keep horizontal steering. Space and Shift remain available as vertical overrides, and the settings are saved for each player on the server.
Coasting uses a smooth 3D glide deceleration. When the controls are released, movement keeps a uniform direction and slows gradually, and an additional instant stop option can be used in place of the default smooth glide stop that Java Edition already has. The mod runs on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and requires Fabric API on every loader.
Files cover 1.20.1, 1.21.11 and 26.2, with 1.6.0 for 26.2 as the latest build on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, released on 2026-08-22. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. The code is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.
Key features
Directional 3D flight
The crosshair controls vertical movement, so flight follows the direction the player is looking.
Smooth 3D glide deceleration
After the controls are released, movement keeps a uniform direction and slows without an abrupt halt.
Instant stop option
An extra stop mode brings the player to a halt at once, in addition to the default smooth glide stop.
Full movement control
W, A, S and D steer horizontally while Space and Shift override vertical movement when needed.
Settings saved per player
Flight options are stored for each player, so every account keeps its own configuration on a server.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players and server owners who fly in creative mode or on creative-style servers and want flight steered by the crosshair, with per-player options stored on the server.
How it compares
Survival Fly is server required with the client optional, under All rights reserved, and covers 1.20.1 – 26.3 on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. Saro's Easy Fly is server-side only, also under All rights reserved, with files for 1.17.1 – 26.3. Dynamic Flight Control is client and server, so both sides install it, and it is not open source.
