Dinged

by on9chai

Dinged plays a short ding sound when Minecraft finishes loading, so players know the game is ready to use.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source26.2 – 26.3

What it does

The sound is tied to the moment the game finishes loading, and it can also play when a world loads, when a world saves and when resources finish loading. Dinged is a lightweight update of iChun's Ding mod, reworked for the current Fabric releases.

Dinged is client-side only, so only the player's client needs it and a server can run without it. It is released under the MIT License and is open source, with its source code and issue tracker publicly available. Files cover 26.2 and 26.3, and the latest Fabric build is 1.0.0-26.3 for 26.3, published on 2026-09-16.

Key features

  1. Load completion sound

A ding plays once the game has finished starting up, signaling that the title screen is ready.

  2. World load and save sounds

The same sound can mark when a world finishes loading and when it saves.

  3. Resource load sound

Playback can also be tied to the point where game resources finish loading.

  4. Lightweight design

The mod is kept small, with a single sound effect and no extra screens or settings beyond the basics.

Use cases

Long startup on modded setups

Players with large modpacks can hear the ding instead of watching the loading screen to see when the game is ready.

Background launches

Someone who starts the game and switches to another task gets an audible cue when the client is available.

Who it’s for: Players on Fabric who want an audible signal when the client has started, loaded a world or saved one. It suits anyone running a larger pack where startup takes a while.
