DecoratedPotEarly

by chenjunfu2

DecoratedPotEarly ports the item storage behavior of decorated pots to Minecraft 1.20.1, letting a pot hold items like a chest does.

FabricClient and serverCC0 1.0 UniversalOpen source1.20.1

What it does

Decorated pots gain item storage on 1.20.1 through a backport of features from newer game versions. The port brings the block animation, particle effects and interaction audio along with the storage, and adds subtitles for the sounds. The stack size of pots is set to 64, so several can be carried and stored together.

Several bugs from the vanilla behavior are fixed. An undecorated pot no longer becomes non-stackable after use because of extra NBT data, and a decorated pot keeps its NBT after use so it stacks normally. A cracked state is set to true so a decorated pot shatters regardless of how it was broken, and the pick-block key selects the correct pattern.

The mod is published for Fabric only, and the environment is client and server, so the server and every player need it. Its files target 1.20.1, and the latest file is 1.0.3+1.20.1, released on 2026-07-18. The code is released under CC0 1.0 Universal, which makes it open source. The project first appeared on 2026-06-12.

Key features

  1. Pot item storage

Decorated pots can hold items, so they serve as small storage containers in the world.

  2. Animation, particles and sound

Interaction brings block animation, particle effects and audio, with subtitles for the sounds.

  3. Redstone blocks tab

A Decorated Pot Redstone Blocks tab is added to the creative mode inventory.

  4. Projectile and loot changes

Decorated pots no longer behave as they did in later versions when hit by projectiles, and loot tables are read from the LootTable tag.

Use cases

Storing small stacks

Players can keep items in decorated pots placed around a base, using them where a chest would be too large.

Who it’s for: Players on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Fabric who want decorated pots to hold items, and server owners who want the same storage behavior on a multiplayer world.
