What it does

The mod adds hostile mobs that are meant to be challenging and unforgiving. Five main monsters and four extra hostile creatures are included, each modeled and textured after the Darkwood game by Acid Wizard Studio. Some variants are hostile to the player and to wolves alike, while the hornless ones stay neutral and avoid the player until attacked.

Giant Bugs are fragile arthropods that keep away from the player, but occasionally try to build a nest on the ground. Nests spawn poisonous AOE clouds. Giant agitated herbivores and hostile mutated wolves round out the roster, with the wolves attacking hostiles and the player on sight.

When a Red Chomper is killed, there is a chance it reappears as a crippled variant, and it moves quickly while hunting. The Human Spider is a conglomerate of fused bodies that can throw pieces of itself to form clones, and it is more dangerous in the dark. Servers that run it need every player to install it too. Darkwood Critters is licensed under the MIT License and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Five main monsters

Five core hostile creatures and four extra ones, each based on a model from the Darkwood game.

  2. Giant wolves and mutated variants

Giant and mutated wolves attack hostile creatures and the player, and several variants come in three forms.

  3. Nest-building bugs

Giant Bugs occasionally build nests that release poison clouds, while staying away from the player most of the time.

  4. Rage-driven Red Chomper

The Red Chomper builds up a rage meter and makes quick lunges at the player, and may turn crippled when dispatched.

  5. Human Spider clones

The Human Spider can toss pieces of itself that grow into clones, making it a stronger threat in dark areas.

What the author says

This mod adds hostile creatures from Darkwood, a game by Acid Wizard Studio. Currently, five main monsters as well as four extra hostile creatures have been modeled, textured, and, uh, digitized. Again. For Minecraft this time. Do keep in mind that none of the creatures spawn on their own. As of now, it's nothing…
