Dark Mode Everywhere (Fabric)

by AK

Dark Mode Everywhere applies dark styling to Minecraft's GUI screens on Fabric, with three dark modes that can be switched from a button at the bottom of a screen.

What it does

Dark GUIs are produced by a set of shaders that transform the GUI textures into darker versions. Players who find the default screens bright can use it to change the look of inventories, menus and other interface screens without editing resource packs by hand. The mod is an unofficial Fabric port of Dark Mode Everywhere, built on a shader approach taken from Minecraft's own shaders.

The mod provides three dark modes, and a button at the bottom of the screen cycles between them. Because some text can be hard to read on dark backgrounds, the author notes that text color may need adjusting for certain screens, and visual problems can be reported to the author. Dark Mode Everywhere is open source under the MIT License and is published for Fabric only, across 3 release versions, 1.19.1 – 1.20.1, with 1.2.2 for 1.20.1 as the latest file.

Key features

  1. Dark GUI shaders

Shaders darken the textures of interface screens, covering inventories and menus in one pass.

  2. Three dark modes

A button at the bottom of a screen switches between three dark styles to suit different preferences.

  3. Extendable GUI shaders

New GUI shaders can be added by editing darkmodeeverywhereshaders.json, loaded through the Resource Loader mod.

  4. Client-side operation

Only the client runs the shaders, so players can use it on any server without server-side installation.
