Damage Tracker

by ExiledLizard635

Damage Tracker shows each change to the player's health in the action bar above the hotbar, with the amount and its source.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT License1.21.3 – 1.21.11

What it does

When the player takes damage, the action bar displays the amount lost and the cause, such as a fall, a mob or another source. When health is regained, a message in the same bar reports how much was restored. Because the feedback sits above the hotbar, it stays visible during combat without a separate window.

Blocking with a shield, in either the main hand or the off hand, produces its own action bar message. The estimated amount of damage the shield absorbed appears there, and an enchanted shield with Unbreaking is reported as a rougher estimate. The whole mod can be switched on or off with a command it adds.

Damage Tracker is a client-side only mod, so only the player's client needs it and a server can run without it. It requires Fabric API and is released under the MIT License, though it is not open source. Builds are published for Fabric only, for 1.21.3 and 1.21.11, with 1.0.3 for 1.21.11 as the latest file.

Key features

  1. Action bar health readout

A line above the hotbar shows the amount of each health change, which keeps the information out of the chat.

  2. Damage source reporting

Each damage message names the source, so a fall, an attack or another cause is identified in the same line.

  3. Healing messages

When health is regained, the action bar reports how much was restored.

  4. Shield absorption estimate

Blocked attacks show an estimated amount of damage the shield absorbed, shown for either hand.

  5. Toggle command

A command switches the whole mod on or off without removing it from the game folder.

Players who want to see how much damage each mob or fall deals can read the numbers as they happen.

Testing shields

Players comparing shield enchantments can see the estimated damage each shield blocks.

Who it’s for: Players who want to follow their own health changes during play. The mod runs only on the client, so no server setup is needed.
