Cruelty-Free Fixes
by FrozenFinder
Cruelty-Free Fixes changes how several animal-derived items are obtained and crafted, with a Forge build for 1.20.1 and a 1.19.4 release in the same line.
What it does
Its stated aim is to reduce how often vanilla play depends on animals. A Rotten Flesh can be dried on a campfire into a new Dried Flesh item, and a Softened Leather can be made on a Crafting Grid from Milk, then smoked to produce Softened Cut Leather, with Rabbit Hide on the list of inputs. The author says the leather path was tuned to stay balanced against gathering leather in the base game, and notes that it may still be off in either direction.
Right-clicking a Hoe with a crop harvests it, a function the author describes as similar to other harvesting mods but added here to the Hoe. Right-clicking a Cake while holding a bowl in the main hand yields a Cake Bowl, and sneaking lets a player take a single slice without placing the whole block. The mod also adds a Dog Biscuit treat and a Golden Dog Biscuit, a Glow Stick craft, and a fishing change that lets players catch fish with friends without harming the fish population.
The mod is Forge only, runs on client and server, and is published for 1.19.4 and 1.20.1. It is licensed under All rights reserved and is not open source. The author is new to modding and asks for reports of bugs and suggestions for changes, and a Nether trip is mentioned in connection with one of the glow-related techniques.
