Creeper Spores
by Ladysnake
Creeper Spores changes how creepers spread and what they leave behind, replacing their terrain damage with a spore-based effect that can produce new creeperlings.
What it does
Regular creepers no longer blow up terrain in the usual way. Instead, their explosions spread spores that act as a status effect on nearby living entities. An entity under the effect that dies can leave a chance of spawning a creeperling, a smaller and gentler relative that grows out of the spores. Creeperlings can also be produced with a creeper spawn egg, and the spawn surface of creepers is replaced with creeperlings in the world.
Creepers in this mod do not damage terrain by default, and their remaining abilities are limited to a small set, but charged creepers still break blocks unless the mobGriefing rule is turned off, which leaves head farming a concern on some worlds. Creeperlings are cute baby creepers that eventually grow up after enough sunlight, and they share some characteristics with catnip, which makes them natural prey for cats and ocelots. Bone meal can make creeperlings grow faster.
Creeper Spores is a Fabric and Quilt mod for client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files are published for 14 release versions, 1.16.2 – 1.20.1, and it is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, making it open source. Source code, an issue tracker and a wiki are linked from its listing.
