Create: Trackbound

by conorobrien143

Create: Trackbound is a NeoForge tethering mod for the Create trains that keeps a locomotive linked to a player's base and limits how far the train can travel.

NeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.21.1

What it does

Trackbound links a Create train to a fixed anchor and treats the area around that anchor as a safe zone. A train that leaves too far is teleported back to its paired point, which turns the rail network into a hardcore survival loop. The tether logic relies on the carriage system Create already provides, so trains keep their normal behavior while they are inside the limit.

The mod is built for a survival playthrough where the first train becomes the main base and other builds act as anchors as the world grows. The author describes it as a hardcore design: if a train is destroyed, its link is lost and the world spawn is restricted until a new locomotive is secured. The default limits are a 100-block spawn radius and a 200-block radius around the locked train, and both can be changed through edited gamerules.

Trackbound requires NeoForge 1.21.1 and runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Xaero's Minimap is recommended for tracking anchors, and the author notes that the mod is still probably buggy. The latest file is 1.0.12 for 1.21.1, published 2026-03-20, and the code is released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source.

Key features

  1. Train tethering

A train is paired with an anchor, and leaving the set distance sends it back to that point.

  2. Spawn and train safe zones

A 100-block spawn limit and a 200-block limit around a locked train mark where the player can safely operate.

  3. Survival HUD warnings

Action-bar messages appear as a train approaches the edge of its safe zone.

  4. Seat binding and sync

Sitting in a train seat binds the player to that train, and the link stays synchronized automatically.

Use cases

Who it’s for: Players who want a restrictive survival layer on top of Create train travel, and server owners running hardcore rail-focused worlds.

How it compares

Full comparison

Create: Railway Additions is a NeoForge addon for Create railways on 1.21.1, client and server, and released under All rights reserved, so it adds content rather than limits. Create Train Physics Reloaded is also NeoForge for 1.21.1 and client and server, but it is open source under the GNU General Public License v2.0 only and changes train physics instead of tethering. Trackbound is the one that restricts travel distance.

Questions

Does Trackbound need Create?

Yes. Tethering logic relies on the Create carriage system, so the Create train mod must be present for trains to be linked.

Must the server have Trackbound installed?

Yes. Servers that run it need every player to install it too.

What happens if a train is destroyed?

Its link is lost, and the world spawn stays restricted until a new locomotive is secured, according to the author's design.

What the author says

Designed for hardcore survival, this mod ensures your train is your base, your safe zone, and your only path forward. If your train is destroyed, you lose your link and are restricted to world spawn until you can secure a new locomotive. Required: Create Mod (Tethering logic relies on Create's carriage system).
