Copycat | Mimic is a Forge horror mod that adds a stalking mimic copying player skins and usernames, appearing only at night on client and server.
What it does
The mimic keeps its distance from players and often stays outside direct line of sight, turning up in places they least expect. It spawns only at night and takes the look and name of a random player on the server, which makes each encounter hard to read. Strange human-like sounds such as footsteps come before it, and the mod is built around psychological tension rather than combat.
Instead of chasing nonstop, the mimic sprints toward players at high speed and then disappears moments before it reaches them. Encounters can leave a player damaged, so each sighting becomes a potential threat. The mod suits players who enjoy atmospheric horror on single-player worlds and multiplayer servers alike, since the server and every player need it to run. The mod is published for Forge only, across six game versions, with 1.2.5 for 1.20.6 as the latest file. It is released under the MIT License and is not open source.
