Command Blocks to Sign

by SozoKa

Command Blocks to Sign lets a sign next to command blocks convert them into a clickable sign command block, and the mod is built for servers.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltServer required, client optionalApache License 2.0Open source1.21.5 – 26.3

What it does

A sign placed beside a group of up to four command blocks, with the two facing one another, can be converted into a sign command block. Waxing the sign makes the conversion trigger on click, and an unwaxed sign behaves as usual. Only sign command blocks react, so ordinary signs keep working as before. Server owners install the mod on the server; players need nothing extra, since the client side is optional.

Command Blocks to Sign is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and as a data pack, covering 1.21.5 – 26.3 across 12 release versions. The code is under the Apache License 2.0 and is open source, with the source code and issue tracker publicly linked.

Key features

  1. Sign to command block conversion

A sign placed beside up to four command blocks can convert them into a sign command block.

  2. Click activation with waxed signs

Waxing the sign makes the command block run on click, while an unwaxed sign stays an ordinary sign.

  3. Facing requirement

The sign and the command blocks must face one another before the conversion takes place.

Questions

Does Command Blocks to Sign need to be on the client?

No. The server must run the mod, while players may leave it out, so either way the client does not need it to join a server running it.

What the author says

The system only reacts if the sign is on a command block, otherwise it will do nothing and the waxing of the sign will act as usual.
