Cinematica

by vice_cll84

Cinematica is a Forge management mod for 1.20.1 that records camera paths as keyframes and plays them back to player groups.

ForgeClient and serverMIT License1.20.1

What it does

Cinematics are recorded by creating a named cinematic and adding keyframes to it. Each cinematic can be set to linear or smooth interpolation between keyframes, and a range of keyframes can be cut out by number. A cinematic can be previewed with particles before it is played back to a group of players at a chosen speed.

Playback can be limited to a team, so players outside that team cannot be targeted by a cinematic. A running cinematic is stopped with a separate command. The mod runs on the client and the server, so both sides need it, and it is released under the MIT License without being open source. Files exist only for Forge on 1.20.1, with 1.0.2 as the latest build from 2025-12-22.

Key features

  1. Keyframe recording

Keyframes are added to a named cinematic one at a time, building the path the camera follows.

  2. Linear and smooth modes

A cinematic can switch between linear and smooth movement between its keyframes.

  3. Cutting and previewing

Part of a cinematic can be removed by keyframe number, and a particle preview shows the path before playback.

  4. Team-restricted playback

A cinematic can be played to a player group and kept from a team, with a speed setting and a stop command for playback in progress.
