ChunkCarts
by Aplite
ChunkCarts lets minecarts keep the chunks they pass through loaded, so items can travel long distances on a server with nobody standing near the far end.
What it does
Minecarts that carry chunk loaders hold their surroundings in memory while they move, which lets a shuttle keep running through unvisited areas. Closed looping tracks are the exception: the loop stops loading on its own, so a cart that cannot make progress does not keep chunks alive. Progress is checked as the cart moves, and an unwatched furnace cart that runs out of fuel gets released.
The mod works with TrainCarts, Create and other rail mods, and it watches minecart entities without changing rail behaviour, so the two can coexist. Fabric API is a required dependency on Fabric; Forge, NeoForge and the Paper or Purpur server platforms are also supported. Builds cover 1.21 – 26.2 across 15 release versions, and the code is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, making it open source.
Key features
Unattended item transport
Carts carrying items keep chunks loaded along their route, so cargo crosses distances no player has to watch.
Automatic loop shutdown
Closed looping tracks stop loading chunks on their own, so a circuit cannot pin the world in memory forever.
Permissive and strict modes
Strict mode clamps abusable settings to sane ceilings, while permissive mode allows a single setting and prints a warning at startup.
Operator administration
The chunkcarts.admin permission is held by operators by default, and the ccarts alias runs the commands.

Use cases
Remote item shuttles
A furnace cart or storage cart can run back and forth between two far-apart sites while the server stays idle near both.
Who it’s for: Server owners who run item transport between distant bases, and players who want minecart networks that keep working when they are elsewhere. Server owners should check the config.yml settings before enabling permissive mode.

What the author says
Minecarts load the chunks they travel through, so you can send items across long distances on a server where nobody is standing at the far end. Closed and looping tracks stop loading automatically. On the default settings, a minecart cannot be used as a chunk loader. A journey is only allowed to continue while the…
