Chunk Animator makes newly loaded chunks rise or slide into view instead of popping in all at once.
What it does
Vanilla Minecraft shows freshly loaded chunks instantly. Chunk Animator is a small client-side mod that animates that appearance so terrain fades into place over a short moment. Only the client needs it; a server can run without it and players can join without installing anything. It is released under the MIT License and is open source. Builds exist for Forge and NeoForge across the 1.16.5 – 1.21 range, with 1.20.1 and 1.21 as the latest files.
Key features
Animated chunk appearance
Chunks that load into view are animated rather than appearing at once, which softens the pop-in as the player moves.
Direction-based motion
The animation can come from below or above, or move horizontally relative to the player's position.
Client-side configuration
The effect runs on the client, so each player chooses the look without any change to the server.
