Chrono API

by Rolmi

Chrono API is a Forge library for Minecraft 1.20.1 that controls the flow of in-game time for named time fields, entities, blocks and chunks.

What it does

Time control in Chrono API works through named time fields. A field can target entities, blocks, geometric areas, loaded chunks or whole dimensions, and can be slowed, accelerated, paused or resumed. Speeds range from a simulation rate of 0.0001 up to 100 ticks per second, with normal speed at 20 ticks per second. Fields can also follow an owner so that time control moves with a player.

Entities can be exempted from pauses and tick-rate changes through UUID whitelists, and an immunity list accepts living-entity holders. Rewind replays recorded history for entities, blocks, items, projectiles, inventories and supported players. Rewind restores recorded state rather than reversing operations. Coverage depends on which history is loaded and which integration paths other mods use. Chrono API is a prerequisite for Pugmeowla's Infinity Stone Core and separates the reusable time-control engine from Deus Chrono-Machina. Deus Chrono-Machina v7.x is listed as a required dependency, while the separated engine remains compatible with v6.x.

Key features

  1. Named time fields

Time fields target entities, blocks, geometric areas, chunks and dimensions, and each one can be slowed, paused or resumed separately.

  2. Simulation speed control

Rates run from 0.0001 to 100 ticks per second, with normal speed at 20 ticks per second, and a multiplier field selects the calculation.

  3. Rewind history

Recorded history covers entities, blocks, items, projectiles, inventories and supported players, and restores their recorded state.

  4. Whitelists and immunity

UUID whitelists exempt entities from pauses and tick-rate changes, and an immunity list accepts living-entity holders.

  5. Command and Java access

Chrono commands cover gameplay integrations, testing and server administration, and a Java API lets other mods control time without commands.

Use cases

Who it’s for: Mod developers building time-manipulation features, and server owners or pack makers who want Palladium abilities or chrono commands for time control.

Questions

Does Chrono API need Deus Chrono-Machina?

No. Chrono API is separated from Deus Chrono-Machina, so other mods can use its time features, but Deus Chrono-Machina v7.x is listed as a required dependency of the Chrono API package.

Is Palladium required to use Chrono API?

No. Palladium is not needed: the commands and the Java API of the core mod run with or without it. Palladium support adds JSON abilities and conditions for power packs.

Which whitelist command adds exemptions?

Until a correction ships, use the chrono whitelist add command for the immunity whitelist property used by the pause and rate abilities, because the dedicated chrono api:whitelist ability does not yet add entries.
