Cell Lever
by necauqua
Cell Lever turns ordinary levers into a redstone block with two distinct sides, one of which accepts a signal as a toggle input.
What it does
Cell Lever changes the ordinary Minecraft lever into a flip-flop: the short sides of the block emit redstone while the long sides accept an incoming signal that toggles the lever. The idea is taken from the SCM mod by amadornes, which handled tiny lever circuits in a similar way. A player places a Cell Lever from the crafting recipe, and it drops the vanilla lever when broken.
The mod can also replace every vanilla lever in a world through a server-side config option kept in the config folder. This is a more destructive setting, since existing levers are converted. Cell Lever is a small mod that adds one lever type, and it is published for Forge only, across 15 release versions, 1.16 – 1.19.3, under the MIT License and open source. Both the server and every player need it, because the block behaves the same on both sides.
Key features
Toggle input on long sides
A signal delivered to the long sides of the block flips its state, so the lever works as a flip-flop in a circuit.
Output on short sides
The short sides emit redstone signal, where a vanilla lever would output from every face.
Vanilla lever conversion
A server-side config option replaces vanilla levers with Cell Levers across the world.
Crafting and drops
Cell Levers are crafted from a recipe, and breaking one returns a vanilla lever.

Use cases
Lever circuits
Redstone builders can use the long-side input to toggle a circuit without extra components.
Server-wide lever behavior
Server owners can enable the config option so every lever in the world follows the new behavior.
Who it’s for: Redstone builders and server owners who want a lever with separate input and output sides, and who are comfortable with a config option that changes existing blocks.
How it compares
Analog Lever Tweak changes the lever's output strength on Forge for 1.20.1, and is published under the MIT License, but it is not open source. Virtual-Redstone-Wire is also Forge-only for 1.20.1 and open source under the MIT License, and it adds wire rather than changing the lever. Control Panel runs on Forge for 1.9.4 – 1.12.2 under the BSD 3-Clause License and is open source. Cell Lever covers a different span of releases.

What the author says
This is a small mod that adds another type of a lever - Cell Lever. Instead of outputting a redstone signal from each side of the lever block it only outputs signal from the short sides. On the long sides, it accepts redstone input - and it gets toggled when it receives such a signal. This is inspired by the SCM mod…
