CatalystFX
CatalystFX is a Fabric client mod that trims unneeded work during the first launch so the game reaches a usable state sooner.
What it does
Startup on modded clients can wait on optional tasks before the game responds. CatalystFX defers non-essential client-side DataFixerUpper optimization onto a controlled background thread, so the initial client boot does not stall on those tasks. It does not disable systems that gameplay depends on, and rendering, world loading, the resource system and gameplay behavior are left intact.
The mod keeps its changes deliberately small: a handful of startup optimizations scoped to the client launch path, with no broad switching off of subsystems. Its background-thread reservation policy is configurable. Default settings favor high background throughput on capable hardware, while a reduced setting leaves one processor free for the render thread, audio and other services, which suits phones and ARM64 devices running PojavLauncher-style environments. Advanced users can adjust behavior through JVM system properties, and the defaults are usable without any setup.
CatalystFX is published for Fabric only, across 9 release versions 1.20 – 26.2, under the MIT License, which is not open source. It is installed on the player's side alone, so servers need nothing. The latest Fabric file, 0.2.0, targets 26.2 and was published on 2026-08-27.
Key features
Deferred DataFixerUpper work
Non-essential data-fixer optimization is moved off the initial client boot sequence, so the game becomes usable sooner.
Background-thread reservation
A configurable policy chooses between maximum background throughput and leaving processor capacity for the render thread and audio.
Scoped startup changes
Only a few optimizations touch the client startup path, and essential rendering, world loading and gameplay systems stay unchanged.
Custom behavior via JVM properties
Advanced users can tune the optimization through JVM system properties, and the vanilla startup behavior can be restored.

How it compares
LazyDFU is also a DataFixerUpper optimization for Fabric and is open source under the MIT License. It works on either side, and neither side needs it. MojoBoostFPS targets only 1.20, is client-side only and is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0, so it is not open source. Smart Optimization and Xylene are client-side only, all rights reserved, and target 1.21.11 alone. CatalystFX covers nine versions 1.20 – 26.2 under the MIT License.

What the author says
CatalystFX is a lightweight, client-side optimization mod for Fabric that focuses on one of the most frustrating parts of modded Minecraft: long startup times before the game becomes usable. Instead of aggressively disabling systems or interfering with essential game functionality, CatalystFX applies a small number…
