Jugs' Calories

by OnlyJugs

Jugs' Calories replaces simple hunger with a calorie-based system, adding spoilage, body temperature and drying racks to food play.

FabricNeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved26.1 – 26.3

What it does

Jugs' Calories extends survival food with a calorie-based hunger system. Food spoils over time, and a dynamic cellar build can slow that spoilage. A body temperature value and a ring overlay track water, food, temperature and fatigue, with colors that can be changed in the config.

Crops grow much more slowly than in vanilla, and farmland nutrients and chunk unloading are taken into account. Campfires and furnaces work through in-world interactions instead of a separate screen, and drying racks dry meat and kelp. A Far Cry inspired detection system governs how hostile mobs notice the player.

The mod runs on Fabric and NeoForge for 26.1 – 26.3, with five release versions and 1.5.0 as the latest file. Both the server and every player need it, and the code is not open source; it is released under All rights reserved.

Key features

  1. Calorie-based hunger

Hunger is tracked in calories rather than a single food bar, extending how food affects the player.

  2. Food spoilage and cellars

Food decays over time, and a dynamic cellar build reduces spoilage for stored supplies.

  3. Body temperature and fatigue

Temperature and fatigue are shown in a configurable ring overlay alongside water and food values.

  4. In-world cooking and drying

Campfires and furnaces are used directly in the world, and drying racks preserve meat and kelp.

Use cases

Survival playthroughs

Players who want food and environment to matter more can use spoilage, cellars and temperature to add pressure to long runs.

Farming worlds

Slower crop growth and nutrient-aware farmland suit players who build longer agricultural cycles.

Who it’s for: Survival players and server owners who want a heavier food and environment layer. The mod is most relevant to worlds where hunger, spoilage and temperature are meant to shape everyday decisions.

Questions

Does Jugs' Calories need to be installed on the server?

Yes. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too.

Which loaders does Jugs' Calories support?

Fabric and NeoForge. Builds exist for 26.1 – 26.3, and the latest file for both loaders is 1.5.0 for 26.3.

Can the overlay colors be changed?

Yes. The ring overlay colors are configurable, so the water, food, temperature and fatigue indicators can match the player's preference.
