BridgeHelper
BridgeHelper, a Forge mod for Minecraft 1.8.9, shows speed-bridging timing in real time, so a player can see how close each placement came to the window.
What it does
The mod reads raw keyboard input and works out the exact moment a block placement lands relative to the window for a clean bridge. Feedback comes from actual movement as the game processes it, not from an estimate, which matters when a bridge is already lost and a player wants to know why. The timing display can show raw millisecond values or simpler messages in plain English, whichever a player prefers.
The HUD stays hidden until a player is actively bridging, so the screen is not cluttered at other times. The position of the display is set from the settings screen, which opens with the M key in game. Installation needs only Minecraft Forge 1.8.9, and the mod runs on the client alone, with no need for the server to have it. Files are published for 1.8.9 only, with 1.5.0 as the latest Forge build from 2026-07-03. The code is open source under the MIT License.
Key features
Live placement timing
Each block placement is timed against the speed-bridging window while the player is still bridging.
Raw millisecond view
Exact millisecond values can be shown, or simpler plain-English messages, selected in the settings.
HUD on demand
The overlay appears only while bridging, and its position is adjusted from the settings screen opened with M.
Input-based feedback
Timing is calculated from raw keyboard input, so the readout matches what the game processed.

Use cases
Learning to bridge
A player who finds bridging inconsistent can check where each placement lands instead of relying on trial and error alone.
Building muscle memory
Immediate readings let a player repeat a timing and notice drift, which is slower to do by guessing.
Who it’s for: Players of Minecraft 1.8.9 who practise speed-bridging and want measured feedback on their placements.
