Bramble Mob

by braytonk4

Bramble Mob is a data pack that adds a hostile, parkour-style flying mob called Bramble, with its spawn, despawn and death behaviour set through functions and tags.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltServer required, client optionalAll rights reserved1.21.5 – 26.3

What it does

Bramble is a hostile mob in the Blaze family. It floats upward steadily, grows more damaged while it floats, and descends slowly during combat, so a player has to move before it lands. During a fight it places temporary leaf blocks that a player must climb to reach it, and it attacks by throwing poisonous azalea bushes into the air.

Bramble can be summoned directly with a function, and the data pack provides pre-set template pools for the bramble spawn and spawner. Its spawn structure uses a minecraft:bottom jigsaw name, and a trial spawner configuration is included for the mob. A mob-only version is available as a separate datapack for those who want the creature without any structure.

Three functions run at fixed moments: one when Bramble spawns, one when it despawns at its last position, and one when it dies at its last position. Tags allow finer control over which blocks and entities it interacts with. Bramble Mob is released under All rights reserved and is not open source. It runs on the server, while a player's client needs nothing extra.

Key features

  1. Parkour combat

Bramble rises and falls during a fight, so players must move, climb temporary leaves and dodge thrown bushes.

  2. Summon function

A function summons Bramble directly, without needing a spawner or structure in the world.

  3. Spawn and trial spawner setup

Pre-set template pools and a trial spawner configuration place Bramble in generated structures.

  4. Lifecycle functions

Functions run when Bramble spawns, despawns or dies, so other datapacks can react to each event.

  5. Mob-only datapack

A separate build adds only the creature, for worlds that want Bramble without the structure.

  6. Following behaviors

Bramble follows players in several ways, and tags give server owners more control over those behaviours.

Use cases

Server encounters

Server owners can add Bramble to a world as a parkour-style challenge that requires movement, not only damage.

Lush Cave structure

A Bramble structure version can be added to Lush Cave Ruins for those who want the mob in that setting.

Who it’s for: The mod suits server owners and map makers who run datapack-driven worlds and want a flying hostile mob with custom spawn and lifecycle functions.
