Bookshelf Inspector
by lukasabbe
With Bookshelf Inspector installed, looking at a book inside a chiseled bookshelf shows the type of book and its title.
What it does
Pointing the crosshair at a book in a chiseled bookshelf displays what kind of book it is and its name. The information appears without opening the shelf, so players can check the contents of a shelf from where they stand. Config changes are available through Cloth Config, and the config file in the config folder can be edited directly for anyone who prefers not to use a menu.
Required dependencies are Cloth Config API and Fabric API. Bookshelf Inspector is a client and server mod: the server must run it for the feature to work in multiplayer, while a player can connect without installing it. Builds exist for Fabric and NeoForge, with files for 1.21 – 26.3 and snapshot builds published, under the MIT License, and the source code and issue tracker are public.
The mod was inspired by gm4-bookshelf-inspector, and support for shelves was added by Img00. Wikiraze requested the mod and Lukasabbe wrote the code. For game versions 1.20 and below, the catalog lists Better Bookshelves as the matching option.

What the author says
Inspect any book in a chiseled bookshelf. If you look at a book in a bookshelf with this mod, you will see what type of book it is and its name! This mod will need to be on the server to work in multiplayer. You don't need the mod to connect to the server. It's totally optional!
