Block Shuffle

by douglas.souzagvs

Block Shuffle is a Fabric utility for the client that rotates the hotbar after each block is placed, so builders get varied textures without switching by hand.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT License1.21.10 – 1.21.11

What it does

After a player places a block, the hotbar is shuffled and a new random selection of blocks is put in reach. Each placement can therefore pull from a different block, which helps build patterns, mixed walls and varied floors without stopping to change the selected slot.

The toggle is off until the player turns it on, and the default key is R. The key can be changed in Minecraft's Controls settings under the Block Shuffle category, and the feature stays inside the client. The mod requires Fabric and runs with a Fabric loader for 1.21.11 builds.

Files are published for 1.21.10 and 1.21.11, and the latest release is version 1.0.0 for 1.21.11, dated 2025-12-09. Only the player's game needs it, and servers run without it. The code is released under the MIT License and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Automatic block shuffling

Once a block is placed, the hotbar reshuffles so the next placement draws from a random selection.

  2. Toggle with the R key

The shuffling feature is switched on and off with R by default, so it can be left off during normal play.

  3. Configurable key binding

The toggle key is set in Minecraft's Controls menu, where players can pick any key they prefer.

  4. Building helper for textures

Builders get varied textures and patterns without switching blocks manually after each placement.
