BetterMiner

by kgbt

BetterMiner is a Fabric mod that lets a single block break remove an entire connected ore vein or tree trunk, toggled on and off with a key.

FabricClient and serverMIT License26.1.2

What it does

Vein mining in BetterMiner is a mode that players switch on and off, with V as the default key that can be rebound. While the mode is active, breaking one ore block or log also removes the connected blocks of the same type, so a whole vein or trunk comes down in one action. Blocks are matched through ore tags and log tags, and diagonal neighbours can be counted for naturally grown trees.

The mining time scales with the number of blocks removed, so a 64-block vein takes far longer than a single block. The mod is built around a balanced design rather than an instant-break shortcut. Settings such as the block cap, which accepts values from 1 to 4096, and the option to use tool durability or hunger per block broken let server owners decide how far the feature reaches.

BetterMiner runs on client and server, and it works in singleplayer and multiplayer. It requires Fabric API and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL), and Mod Menu is an optional dependency. Settings live on the server and sync to clients automatically. Operators change them with the bmconfig command, or through the full YACL-powered config screen. The mod is published for Fabric only, for game version 26.1.2, under the MIT License and not open source.

Key features

  1. Toggleable vein mining

One key switches the mode on or off, and the key can be rebound in the controls.

  2. Connected block removal

Breaking one block removes connected blocks of the same type, cascading through the vein or tree.

  3. Scaled mining time

Time grows with the number of blocks broken, which keeps the mode from becoming an instant-break exploit.

  4. Configurable limits

The block cap, from 1 to 4096, and optional diagonal detection control how far the feature reaches.

  5. Resource costs

Tool durability and hunger can be consumed in proportion to the blocks broken.
