BetterCreeperDrops-DataPack
BetterCreeperDrops-DataPack changes the loot table of the Creeper, so a killed Creeper can drop TNT, gunpowder, records or iron ingots.
What it does
The mod is distributed as a data pack and as a Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt mod. Both builds replace the vanilla Creeper loot table with a changed one, so the drops are altered on the server. The server needs the mod, while the client can run without it: players join without installing anything, and a client copy changes nothing on their side.
Among the changed drops, the Creeper can leave more TNT, a random record at a small chance, and iron ingots. Server owners who run modpacks can add the data pack to their world instead of installing a mod, and the file targets the same loot table either way. Files exist for 1.16.5, 1.18.2, 1.19.2, 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, with 1.0.0 as the latest build for 1.21.1.
The source code and the issue tracker are public. The project is released under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 or later, so it is open source.
Key features
More TNT from Creepers
The changed loot table makes a killed Creeper drop TNT more often than in vanilla, counted in the loot entry range.
Rare record drop
A random music record is included in the table with a 0.3% chance on one roll and a 0.15% chance on another.
Iron ingot drops
Iron ingots are added to the Creeper's possible drops, so the change does not only affect explosives.
Data pack form
The same changed loot table ships as a data pack for worlds and modpacks that do not want a mod jar.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
Use cases
Modpack changes
Modpack authors add the data pack to a pack to alter Creeper drops without writing code.
Server tweaks
Server owners install the mod on the server to change what Creepers leave behind for all players, while players need nothing extra.
Who it’s for: Server owners and modpack authors who want to change the Creeper's drops. Players on a server running the mod do not need to install anything.
How it compares
Creeper Drop TNT is also a Creeper drop mod, for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 1.14 – 26.3, but it is under All rights reserved and is not open source. Creeper Ore! targets Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.19.2 – 1.21.1, has no Quilt build, and is server-side only with All rights reserved and no open source.
