Better Than Wolves is a total conversion for Minecraft Forge that changes many of the rules of play, rather than only adding new items and blocks.

What it does

The mod changes core survival rules and adds engineering and design content while keeping the original feel of the game. Its stated focus is challenging survival and open-ended creativity: it supplies basic tools and leaves players to work out how to apply them, instead of offering shortcut blocks that solve problems automatically.

The author describes the mod as a version of the game shaped by one experienced player for others who share that approach. The project is no longer actively developed. Does Better Than Wolves need ModLoader?

Only for older releases. Versions from 4.84 onward do not use ModLoader, and the latest ModLoader file is 4.B0000003 for 1.5.2.

Does Better Than Wolves have to be installed on the server?

Yes. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod.
