Better Cave Worlds is a world generation mod that changes how caves and cave-based terrain generate in new worlds, with structures placed on or near the cave roof.
What it does
The mod reworks cave world generation, building on the old preset that featured ocean caves. Its structures generate on or near the roof of the caves, so exploring underground brings up structures that a standard world would place on the surface. Buried Treasure, Desert Pyramids, Jungle Pyramids, Ocean Ruins and Witch Huts are among the structures listed for the cave worlds.
Better Cave Worlds is a server-side mod: a server must run it, and players may add it to their own client. It is open source under the MIT License and is available for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, with files for 1.19 – 1.21.10. It is also offered as a data pack for servers. The latest files, for 1.21.10, were published on 2025-10-17, and the mod was first published on 2023-08-04.
