With Better Capes installed, players pick a cape from a set of pre-installed options or upload their own image, and the choice is made on the Skin Customization tab.

What it does

The cape selection screen opens from a button on the Skin Customization tab. From there a player chooses one of the pre-installed capes or uploads a custom cape image of up to 4K resolution. The mod needs no account, and the cape choice does not cost anything.

Better Capes is a client-side only mod, so only the player's own game needs it. Fabric is the sole loader with files, and Fabric API is required alongside it. Builds exist for 1.20 – 26.3, and the latest Fabric file is 1.6.2 for 26.3, published 2026-09-21. The mod is licensed under All rights reserved and is not open source.
