Bedrock Pistons

by ozzylac

Bedrock Pistons adds two piston blocks that can push bedrock, obsidian, anvils and other blocks that vanilla pistons cannot move.

NeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.21.1 – 1.21.11

What it does

Bedrock Pistons adds a Bedrock Piston and a Bedrock Sticky Piston. Each recipe places a vanilla piston at the center of a 3x3 grid, boxed in by obsidian, with an Eye of Ender above it and diamonds flanking its sides. Their redstone behavior matches vanilla pistons: a signal extends or retracts them in the same way.

Pistons of this kind can shove bedrock, obsidian, anvils and comparable immovable blocks, and they also move a vanilla piston or a second bedrock piston out of the way. Blocks that carry a block entity, such as chests and furnaces, are still handled by the safety rules: pistons that were destroyed remain unpushable. The push distance defaults to 32 blocks and can be changed in the config.

The mod runs on NeoForge and needs to be installed on the client and on the server. Files exist for 1.21.1, 1.21.4, 1.21.8, 1.21.10 and 1.21.11, and the latest NeoForge build is 1.0.0 for 1.21.11, published on 2026-08-27. The code is not open source, and the mod is released under All rights reserved.

Key features

  1. Immovable block pushing

Bedrock and obsidian blocks, and anvils, can be moved by the new pistons, which vanilla pistons cannot do.

  2. Vanilla redstone behavior

A signal extends or retracts the pistons just as it does with vanilla pistons, so existing circuits carry over.

  3. Configurable push distance

The maximum push distance defaults to 32 blocks and is set in the mod's config.

  4. Visual sticky variant

A custom texture tells the sticky variant apart from the regular bedrock piston at a glance.
