Bear Minimum

Bears spawn in forested and mountainous biomes. Black bears suit moderate environments and are the smallest bear the mod adds; they are fairly docile, shy of players, and will not attack unless a player comes near their cubs. Their cubs stay close to the parent, and a parent that is hurt or threatened becomes vengeful. Black bears eat honeycombs, apples and berries, and they are drawn to crops, so fences help keep a field intact. Loud noises such as goat horns scare them away more effectively.

Brown bears handle rougher terrain and are less friendly than black bears, with otherwise similar behavior. Their main difference is that they attack players who invade their personal space, so walking straight through their part of the woods is risky. They are skittish and usually avoid players, unless a player carries a favorite food such as berries, bread or salmon. Hungry brown bears raid crops and hunt arthropods, salmon and pigs.

Polar bears keep their vanilla spawning, but the mod gives them a large health boost, more knockback resistance and a noticeably larger size, so they are no longer passive props that stand around. The mod runs on the client and the server, so both need it and every player on the server must install it. Bear Minimum is licensed under the Apache License 2.0 and is not open source. It is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, with files covering 1.19.2 – 26.1.2 across twelve release versions.
